NBLUG hosts all events in Sebastopol California at O'Reilly Media's fabulous building. Since our first meeting in June 1998, O'Reilly has kindly offered us space in their building to host our meetings. We have graciously accepted their kind offer and have called this home ever since our first meeting.
If offering us space for meetings is not enough, they also donate books to our Linux user group to raffle off to a few lucky members! (Woohoo!)
A huge thank you to O'Reilly for all they have offered our North Bay Linux User Group.
Directions on how to attend our meetings:
For those who may not know, Gravenstein Highway is also called Hwy 116.
For those who know Sebastopol, O'Reilly's new building is just past Long's Drugs and Mary's Pizza Shack heading North on 116
Once you find the building, you will need to locate the meeting room:
If you look at O'Reilly's new campus from Hwy 116, you'll see three buildings. The one on the far left is their warehouse, and
We will be in a conference room that is located behind the building on the far right. If you walk between the two office buildings, the sidewalk splits and a path leads to the right or left - you'll want to go to the right and walk about 15 feet. The conference room door should be in view to your left and you may see fellow NBLUG-ers anxiously awaiting the next meeting, or socializing with their peers.
Getting there by Bus:
Going to a regular meeting from Santa Rosa, you can catch Sonoma County Transit route 20 at the downtown transit mall. Either at 5:10 and wander around Sebastopol for an hour or at 6:47 and risk being a few minutes later to the meeting. O'Reilly is between the "Laguna Park Way / McKinley" and "Graton" stops. Get off in front of Fiesta/Longs/Albertson's or the stop after that and walk a short ways. Going back, you can catch the bus just after 9pm. Since some of our meetings still have stuff going on past 9, you might want to ask around if anybody can give you a ride home.
Going to a regular meeting from Rohnert Park, you can either catch a bus to Santa Rosa and follow the above instructions, or catch the Route 26 a little after 5pm, which can transfer to the route 20, or you can walk a few blocks uphill to get to the meeting location. Getting back to Rohnert Park would require getting to Santa Rosa and then a bus from there or getting a ride.
Going to a regular meeting from west county (Forestville, Guerneville, Occidental, etc.) is, unfortunately, difficult. There's a route 20 that gets into Sebastopol a little after 5pm, and you'd have to leave around 8:45 to catch another bus home.
Getting to an installfest by bus. Route 20 from Santa Rosa can get you there in time for an 11:30am time slot and there are buses back at 1:30pm, 5pm and 9pm. From west county, you can get to Sebastopol at 9:30 or 1:30 and head home at 3 or 7. From rohnert park you need to get there via Santa Rosa on the weekends
If you have any questions on the location or need further directions, please email and we'll help out as best we can.
