Greetings one and all! There is a lot of information in this announcement,
so please take the time to read it over.

Well, we've got the OK - we're going to have a BBQ!! That's right. NBLUG
is celebrating - we are turning 2! The party will be in addition to our
June Install Fest. Because of the effort we are undertaking, however, there
will NOT be a monthly meeting for June. On Tuesday the 13th, there will NOT
be a meeting, so please do not show up. Instead, join us for food and
drinks on the following Saturday, the 17th. Below are specifics about each
part of the event on the 17th. By the way, since we aren't having a regular
meeting, please feel free to come by and partake in the BBQ even if you
aren't going to be participating in the Install Fest. It's a party, after
all!

Previous Meeting Report
-----------------------

One of our long-time members suggested I give a brief recap of the previous
month's meeting in my announcements, so I'm going to give that a shot this
month.

Last month we had Darryl Ramm from VMWare present. I've heard Darryl speak
before, and I wasn't disappointed this time either. He is the director of
product marketing at VMWare. Given that title, you may have expected to see
a standard fare dog and pony show. I hope those who attended would agree
that that wasn't the case. Darryl went on for some time giving background
on what a virtual machine is (in the mainframe sense), what makes a CPU
virtualizeable and how VMWare fit into the concept of a virtual machine.

Like the Sybase presentation a few months back, Darryl took most of the
meeting, and could have continued for some time had we not had to vacate the
building due to the alarm system arming. We didn't really end up having
time for show-and-tell of the product, but we did get some Q&A time in.

Next month (July), we're going to have a follow-up presentation from our
very own Eric. He'll be doing the second part of his Introduction to Linux
Networking series. Stay tuned for details!

Install Fest
------------
WHEN: June 17th - 10AM - 4PM

The Install Fest will be very similar to those we've had in the past. We
are going to be doing the sign up method that we tried out last time. It
seemed to work well and helped to make things run a little smoother. To
register for the Install Fest, visit:

	 http://www.nblug.org/ip.cgi

We are looking for around 3-5 people to assist with the Install Fest. If
you have experience installing Linux multiple times, and feel comfortable
walking someone through a basic install, we can use your assistance. Please
contact Eric Eisenhart (eric at nblug.org). He coordinates helpers and those
seeking help. He will be able to tell you what you'll need to do and when
to show up.

BBQ
---
WHEN: June 17th - 12PM - 2PM

O'Reilly has graciously given us permission to hold a BBQ in their parking
lot in conjunction with the Install Fest. We've never done this before, so
be prepared for some creative zaniness.

We will have 3-4 BBQs on hand churning out black smoke...I mean sumptuous
meat products. NBLUG will be cooking hot dogs and burgers as well as
providing drinks. We will be charging a (very) small fee for the hot dogs,
burgers and sodas in order to attempt to recoup our cost. We'll have all
the fixings as well. If you would like to bring your own meat, or meat
substitute, there should be some extra grill space (although we can't
guarantee a grill that didn't previously have meat grilled on it).

We also need one or two people who would like to volunteer to assist with
the grill and food area. You can contact myself (dustin at nblug.org) if you
are interested in helping out.

Well, I hope that covers everything. If you have any questions, please feel
free to contact me. I look forward to seeing all of you there!
