Howdy, and Welcome to Sonoma County!

Infrastructure for DSL is definitely here; in fact the local tv cable
provider in Santa Rosa has gone digital and is still placing fiber optic
lines.   PacBell and ATT have strong holds, especially in Santa Rosa,
Rohnert Park, and Petaluma.

Sonoma Interconnect (SonicNet) is a major ISP and has a bundle deal for DSL
with PacBell...check them out.  And I understand that ATT has a combo deal
going for group tv/phone/internet in places like Petaluma.  So no shortage
of services.

Make no mistake, there is a strong and growing UG for linux here.  Welcome
