[humor]
Perhaps it went down something like this...

(Sun Marketing headquarters...)

Woman A: Do we have the figures in for market share projection on Q4 2000?

Man A: Certainly. We are still showing a steady decline in site running
Solaris on their Sun hardware. it appears even more are looking to shift
to running Linux.

Woman B: We must do something!

Man B: I know! let's buy up all of the shares of Linux, and then close
them down like Microsoft has been known to do with their competition!

Woman A: Too risky. The feds will get on to us like they were onto
Microsoft.

Woman B: Maybe we can buy up all of the stocks in Linux, and then we can
install our OS on their hardware! We can start stealing their market shre,
thus forcing the Linux marketing people to focus their attention on
retaining their user-base, and effectively slowing their progress into our
domain! Ths will allow us to not only keep our profit margin's high, but
make inroads into the soft belley of the Linux Hardware Market!

Woman A: great idea! Wat is the stock ticker symbol for Linux?

Man B: I am not sure, but I seem to recall there was a company called
"Cobalt" that made Linux hardware and sold it with linux installed. They
market Linux, and so they must control Linux.

Man A: No, no no... i think that Linux is this company called "Black
Hat"...

Woman B: No that is a conference in Las Vegas where they talk about
Computer engineering and Social Security... or is it Social Engineering
and Computer Security? No, there is no such thing as social engineering,
so that Black Hat company is a bunch of old people that talk about Ancient
hardware like Pentium I machines.

Man B: You said the "P" word! I am gonna tell the CEO on you! You cannot
metion that "I" company or any of its hardware!

Woman B: I though we made a version of Solaris for Intel, I mean that
"I" company?

Man A: Shhh! The consumers will hear you! Just because we make a product,
does not mean we support it. We want them to buy *our* hardware and our
software. Don't mention that "version"!

Woman A: No more talking! We have a crack team of people here in our
marketing department. We will go forward and buy or make a deal with
Cobalt. no longer will we tolerate any more cuts into our hardware by
other operating Systems...
