I wouldn't suggest publicfile as a ftp server (which I as much said in my
original mail).  However, the only reason that I wouldn't suggest it is
that there aren't clients that support Dan's EPLF.  I wouldn't suggest
someone use HTML if there weren't programs to read it, but that doesn't
mean HTML is a bad idea.  The fact is that Dan's format solves a number of
issues that weren't thought of in the initial design of the FTP protocol.  
It does make a good webserver, which was the topic at hand.
