My recommendation: switch *right now*.  ;)

Gandi's policy on transferring domains to them is that you pay for a year
and they extend your *current* expiration by a year.  So, if your domain
expires in June (2003), you'd pay Gandi for your first "year" with them and
have an expiration of June 2004.  (not January 2004)
