Another product that I've played with briefly is GPSDrive.

It will interface with Kismet and your GPS.   It will save/retrieve 
hotspots (and other waypoints) to a MySQL database, and can do other 
things, like fetch and store street maps from MapQuest.  There's some 
work now on a GPRS (general packet radio service) to have your current 
position made available on the 'net, and evetually to show your 
position (and the positions of others nearby) on your map.

Unfortunately, I don't have Linux on my laptop (yet),  so GPSDrive 
doesn't do much interesting.  I might be willing to make a presentation 
eventually, but it's unlikely I could have a really good one by August.
