Hey, Chad-

Did you have any success with this?
I was hoping that someone else might have a Radeon 9000 and
chime in, so I've held off on replying.

The ATI driver page for linux can be a little hard to find (since,
(duh!) the 'Find a Driver' link on ATI.com  won't show Linux as a choice
if it screws up on identifying your browser) but the driver available
here: http://mirror.ati.com/support/driver.html 
might do the trick.

Also, this forum (Linux forum too!):

may prove useful.  Last week, someone mentioned your problem
(flickering w/ radeon 9000), so perhaps that has been answered by now.
