[NBLUG/talk] A couple of questions

Nadina,

I went through 4 to 5 internal modems for Red Hat 7.2 a little over a year ago, only to find out that the O/S needs a "hard modem", not a "soft modem". I bought an external model, Best Data/fax, 56K v.92. Hooked it to COM1 and it worked fine. I noticed my Red Hat did "see" a couple of the internal "soft modems", but they did not work.

Hope that helps,
Harry

Subject: [NBLUG/talk] A couple of questions

First one is about the modem. I have a Zoom Faxmodem, dualmode but how do I find drivers for it? I don't think it's a winmodem, I had it installed on my older system that was using both Win 3.1 and 95.

Linux doesn't even recognize that there is a modem installed and I can't find anything in the documentation to figure out how to get the OS to see the modem.
How do I get it to see it?

  Thanks for any help.

Bill - can't plan anything as far away as September, but I would like to make it to the June meeting.

  Nadina
