Someone asked at this last meeting how to get stuff scraped of the screen
as images with the GIMP.

Such a feature is usually part of the OS.

There is a method for MacOS 9 and earlier (nor sure about OS X) and there
is a method for Windows 95 and later, and these are built-into the OS.

For Linux, there are commands you can install to permit "screen scraping"

Check out "xwpick" for one. It permits you to run it with a file as an arg
(not all image formats are supported) and then any app you "click on" (one
time) will be copied as an image to the file you specified.

There are other tools to do stuff like this. I can't remember their names
right now though..
