This has to do with the 'special mode select'.  This drive is old
enough to have problems with the BIOS's of the day that would only
allow 2GB drives.  The mode select pins need to be setup so that
it reports the right CHS geometry.  The three-pin mode selection
area should have two jumpers in it (for a master device looking at
the pins with the power connector on the left):
      One vertical on the left two pins and one horizontal on the
      lower middle & lower right pins.
