Thanks, Mark.  If you see the "solved" post, I found a way out of my
problem.  I had already given up on the drupal/gallery module version
of gallery and was finally able to install the standalone version.

I indeed edited the session.php file and now everything is cool,
except now I have to manufacture some content for my website...

Also, I do have a .htaccess file in my gallery directory.  Do
I need to do anything special with it?  In the end, I don't think that
it was part of my problem.
