I should add, as someone who's run a stable/testing hybrid system
before, this can get very messy and is not for the faint of heart. If
this is the style of system you are looking for a desktop, you should
look at Ubuntu which is using Debian packages (with some nifty
customizations) from both stable/testing and you don't have to worry
about juggling tons of packages from different release levels.
Otherwise, I'd suggest picking a release and sticking with it. After
running a hybrid system, I decided to simply go testing (Etch) across
the board and have been quite happy with the results.
