[NBLUG/talk] New Compaq sr2150nx - Linux can't find SATA drive

So the next step I would try would be googling "linux" + the relevant
output for lspci, such as

"IDE interface: ATI Technologies Inc: Unknown device 438c"

+ anything else that seems relevant, such as "PCI ID" to reference the
PCI ID database.

With just linux + pci + the lscpi string, I get several hits, including:

http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/showthread.php?t=507629

Where it looks like (at the bottom of the thread) the person with this
trouble solves his problem booting the install CD with:

apci=force irqpoll

Or:

pci=nomsi

Here's another, longer, thread which might be relevant:

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?s=2dca699be2be569e56aa2d2991cd5585&t=299929&page=5

I saw what might be some more useful ones with the same search terms.

Even though the laptops referenced in these threads aren't branded the
same as yours, they do appear to have at the very least similar
hardware.
