Very sorry If that is way you took it, it wasn't meant that way. I was trying to say, if people buy their software, then they shouldn't complain as there are other OD's out there which are far superior to M$. Yes it is your right and I also believe M$ uses very unethical business practices.

When I have to boot win it amazes me that win takes 11/2 minutes or longer to boot and sometimes several minutes to shut down. Ubuntu on my Q6600 takes 9-14 sec to boot up and about the same time to shut down. I found under wine, many M$ utilities run on Ubuntu. One program I was really missing was Quicken. In fact 99 runs better under Linux than in win 7. I tried the various checkbook programs under Linux, but like quicken better.

Sorry for the misunderstanding.

I don't like Linux, I LOVE it!!!!! I did use XENIX in the early 1980s for about 4 months, command line. I suffered thru every version of DOS and windows M$ put out except NT 3+ and ME. Hated every one except NT 4.0 SP5. Stable as a rock

Scott, in a free society, one has a right to use or not use a
program. I don't pay or use products which I don't like e.g Apple (had
a Mac), locked music cd's and only use windows cause open source
doesn't have a replacement for a couple of programs. I use Ubuntu 98%
of the time. If I could get the USB to work on visualbox, I would be
1000% happy.

If people complain and don't like windows, don't use or buy it!

I'm not sure where you are coming from.

Yes, I don't buy their OS, and I'm only "using" it in cases where their
DRM (itself unethical) infringes on _my_ right to not use their
software.

It is also "my right" to point to resources which contain facts that
support my position that MSFT does not act with acceptable business
ethics. Since this is one reason to drop #se7en and adopt Linux on the
desktop, I think it is highly on-topic for this mailing list.

Don't like it? It's "your right" to disagree, too...but please don't
imply that *I* somehow am infringing on people's rights.

BTW, how do you like Linux so far? :)
