The event was

A lot of the conversations dealt with protocols for inter-server
communication such as PubSubHubBub
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PubSubHubbub
and Salmon https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salmon_(protocol).

My interest in the event had more to do with seeing what sort of
applications people were developing with the protocols, and what sort
of APIs will be available for client applications. 

The most notable applications discussed where:
status.net - microblogging
mediagoblin - media publishing
talka.tv - commenting system
openphoto - image sharing

The FreedomBox Foundation was invited to attend, but lamentably they
declined.
