[NBLUG/talk] jobs?

Bert,

Do not narrow yourself to just "computer jobs." Do you have _any_ work
experience at all? References?
My career path is not strictly within the IT realm. I got to where I am
now by taking random jobs, getting references, and correlating them to
the field.

I used to work as a barista. I took that same customer service
experience and applied to my work as a customer service representative
for what is essentially an ISP. Not only did I do that, I learned new
skills and applied my knowledge to that job. I took on new responsibilities.
These projects and newfound skills are a line item on my resume.
The job I had on campus as a math lab assistant has looked favorably
upon certain employers (particularly Sonic.net) [that interview went
pear-shaped for a number of undisclosable reasons].

But guess what? I have letters of recommendation! These are critical!
Did any of your teachers offer a reference or recommendation? If so,
take them up on it.

Perhaps you should look for something in the data entry realm.

I have had some success with Nelson Staffing; friends have had success
with Robert Half (OfficeTeam particularly).

Rome was not built in a day; your computing career will not either.

I hope that this guides you.
