RPi 2? pfftttt, I said "GNU Linux", not "Windows 10". I'm using a
beaglebone black for this project. 

As far as getting data for when to open and close the door, a cron task
runs everyday at 3AM and accesses a weather service API to determine
when civil twilight begins and ends for that day, and those time are
used with 'atd' to trigger the door motor.
