Yay! All fixed. The Epson scanner needs the right firmware copied in from the Epson CD and pointed to in the snapscan.conf file. I did it before, back in 2005, once. THIS time I've added the notes to the documentation I'm making on how to do everything special about my system. I'm getting tired of reinventing the wheel.
