<p><span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman', Times, serif; font-size: large;">Derek: I completely forgot to mention this in our discussion of Amazon Web Services, but the reason I happened to know the retail price of their S3 service (about $21 per TB) was because I saw it on Sia's website - <a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="https://sia.tech/">https://sia.tech/</a> Although Sia's website has changed a lot since I last looked at it, they are still a blockchain based, decentralized, open source storage platform where if you have storage space, you can rent that out on the Sia network or if you need storage space you can rent it on the Sia network. Their stats at the bottom of the homepage indicate that there is about 600-700 hosts, 1 million+ downloads, 7.6 PB of total storage on the network, and 2.72 PB of storage currently used. Filecoin is another blockchain based, decentralized storage network - <a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="https://filecoin.io/">https://filecoin.io/</a> Although I understand that you're no fan of blockchain/digital currencies. <br> </span></p>

<p><span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman', Times, serif; font-size: large;">Finally, the organization that I have been volunteering with recently, Open Source Ecology - <a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="https://www.opensourceecology.org/">https://www.opensourceecology.org/</a>, came up as we were talking about Blender and FreeCAD. "An open source, libre economy is an efficient economy which increases innovation by open collaboration. To get there, OSE is currently developing a set of open source blueprints for the Global Village Construction Set (GVCS) – a set of the 50 most important machines that it takes for modern life to exist – everything from a tractor, to an oven, to a circuit maker. In the process of creating the GVCS, OSE intends to develop a modular, scalable platform for documenting and developing open source, libre hardware – including blueprints for both physical artifacts and for related open enterprises." I have been helping on land acquisition, interacting with Realtors and contractors in Kansas City, MO in order to take the OSE design for a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom, 1000 square foot house that can be built for $50,000 in materials from a concept into practice and then scaled up over time. Feel free to check it out if you feel so inclined...</span></p>
