RH 6 and dual processors

Maybe nobody but me will ever have this problem, but it took 15
tries to install RH 6 on my dual processor Pentium Pro which has
only one processor! The SMP kernel is booted by default, and with
only one processor, you get garbage and a kernel panic.
When I finally figured out what to do (select "linux-up" instead of
"linux" from LILO, I was pretty frazzled, and had reformatted, deleted,
repartitioned so many times it's a wonder anything worked!
But all OK now - when I finally got booted from the boot floppy,
and looked at lilo-conf, I saw what the problem was.
I told Red Hat, "put this in your install program! I had no way of
knowing, or changing, which kernel would be booted after the
first reboot!" )((***^^%&*(()
