wp8 works fine with the 2.2 series IME. Some things to check:
run 'ldd /usr/local/wp8/wpbin/xwp', and see if it reports any
'not found' libs, particularly libXt. Also run ldd on libXt.so.6 and see if
that reports anything missing. If either is indeed missing, check
/etc/ld.so.conf and see if it includes your X libs dir (/usr/X11R6/lib on
redhat and debian boxen, not sure about TurboLinux). Also try
'LD_PRELOAD=/path/to/libXt.so.6.0 /usr/local/wp8/wpbin/xwp' (adjust paths as
necessary) and see if it starts.
That should get you a little further. Post results and we'll be able to
tell more.
