just wanted to share my story of triumph...

i had been doing some reasearch on the laptop, linux, and networking, and
was ready to go to the ssu library to try some stuff out.

1. boot up laptop
2. edit /etc/pcmcia/network.opts
3. set dhcp to "y"
4. plug ethernet card in (machine beeps, hard drive whirls i get excited!)
5. plug network cable into ethernet card plug other end into library jack.
6. machine beeps again and hard drive whirls some more (ooohhh...)
7. ifconfig returns eth0 is up and has addresses assigned.
8. ping linux.cs ... 0% packet loss woo hoo!
