Hmmm, any chance that you have identd lookups enabled somewhere, and mirror.nblug refuses connections from a machine without ident?  This box (chuckie) is also a public FTP server I set up, it runs only SSH and ProFTPD (with ident lookups off).  I do not run pidentd on it.....
