It looks like Solar Designer's Linux kernel security patches for the 2.4.x
series kernels is entering testing!
(Disclaimer: they are listed specificly as to not be used for production
systems and this appears to be release "0" (zero).)
I'll start testing this on a non-production machine Tuesday.

In addition to offering a non-executable stack patch to linux for avoiding
most buffer-overrun security exploits, the 2.2.x series pataches also
allow the admin to limit other security risks at the kernel level.
Enjoy!
