Regarding wireless security: Lawrence Livermore bans wireless
networks

The 128-bit encryption in wireless networks is not fool-proof, but I don't
think anyone would bother to spend the time or effort to crack my home
wireless network -- I'm not Lawrence Livermore Lab. However, as I said
before, some base stations can't decode the highly encrypted data stream
fast enough, which may lead some folks to turn off encryption altogether.
Another mitigating circumstance is that the wireless signals from consumer
equipment don't go all that far. Take your notebook around the perimeter of
your domicile and see how far the signal goes. Mine barely makes it to the
sidewalk. Apartment dwellers have more of a problem, however.
