SuSE 8.1 - SuSE.config and Yast questions

I installed SuSE 8.1 last week on a whim.... what a hoot!

I am grasping to understand the whole SuSE.config update thing running after 
you install a package with rpm or yast.

As an example I went outside the box and removed the Apache 1.3x server and 
replaced it with the 2.* server.  I got it running but now without a bunch of 
config and SuSE.config --module commands and such.  What a hassle....  I just 
want to understand the logic here...

Does anybody have a good site or document to reference, Yast, Yast2, 
SuSE.config, etc....?
