Try loading JUST THE PYTHON rpm by using rpm -Uvh --nodeps --oldpackage
(or rpm -ivh --nodeps if the newer package isn't installed).

The system won't crash if python doesn't work, so this should be safe,
do not start downgrading libaries this way.

If that won't execute properly then get an old tarball and compile it
from the source.
