Would mkfs.vfat work? If I do a `cfdisk /dev/sdb1` on the drive, the
label appears. But no dice...
$ mkfs.vfat -n 'JumpDrive' -F 32 /dev/sdb1
mkfs.vfat 2.10 (22 Sep 2003)
$ findfs LABEL=JumpDrive
/dev/sdb1
$ mount /mnt/jumpdrive
mount: no such partition found
... where /etc/fstab has a line listed:
LABEL=JumpDrive /mnt/jumpdrive uid=jeremy,gid=jeremy,user 0 0
Hmmm... I'm going to check out parted next
