	I've a Dell C600 laptop on which I put RH 8.0. I noticed some
problems when the lid was closed while the system was still on, too. I
checked the BIOS and sure enough, there was a section called "Display
Close" that, when set to "ACTIVE", kept the system active when the lid was
closed. When set to SUSPEND, the system would go to suspend mode when the
lid was closed and hose my Linux o/s. Apparantly this laptop was designed
to function with some form of Windows that had an automatic recovery
thingy that would read the system info from the HD where the suspend
process put it and restore the system accordingly.
