Follow the directions from the Debian site to create an ISO for CD #1,
burn it and use it to start the install. Load the rest from the
network.

Yes. It may need a couple edits to your .profile or .cshrc, but for
them most part everything will be fine. I just did the same thing when
I switched my laptop from Mandrake to Debian. There were a few scripts
I'd written that needed editing, but for the most part all my files are
OK.
} 2) I really truly did buy a Dell. It was cheap. Cheaper than that. Then I
} negotiated. I'll make no apologies, I only have to plug it in -- my knuckles
} will not bleed. HOWEVER, the one thing they were absolutely unrelenting on
} was that I had to take the machine with Windows XP installed. They said they
} could not sell the machine bare, or with linux. They said I should contact
} Microsoft directly about my refund. I know, I know. Stop snickering.
Did it come with a Windows CD? Sell it. I neither know nor care if
that's legal.
