Yes I feel you, but I can't spend $200-$300 just to surf and etc on the
toilet. Heck that's were I have the time to read Linux Magazine, and
etc. If it weren't for toilets, allot less magazines would be sold.
I think there the PDA's might eventually hurt magazines. As people put
the magazine down and pick up a PDA while on the toilet.
Damn it smells. ;)
Now I like wireless, but really I can only see a wireless network
benefiting me if want to surf. If I want to transfer files and etc on
the LAN, wireless will slow me down. I have a habit of running CAT 5 in
every room that I will need internet access in. Sure it keeps me wired,
but I rarely go running around with my laptop in hand while working.
Even with the Zaurus, if I was using it in motion, I might run into
something.
Now I the cellular wireless service is cool.
To take it one step further there is a wireless ISP in the area, North
Florida now, that provides a unit that can be taken with you on the go.
I imagine it needs power, but that's not a big deal. So I can go to a
clients, out on a boat, any where I can plug in the modem and I will
have 2.0Mbps down and 768kbps up. Whooohoo.

I really need that since BellSouth's copper is in such bad shape. I had
a ADSL line with them and then Covad, but neither could stay above
1.0Mbps. When I was in Petaluma, CA with Sonic. For three years my line
rarely dropped below 1.3Mbps down.
Back to the wireless point. I sure like the concept. However from the
little wireless experience I have had, you have to have several
different configs for the different wireless networks you participate
on. Which not all of are free, like the one in StarBucks.
I like the idea, but at this point I can't justify the expense. Since
the only thing that will be wireless at that point is my PDA.
Now the cellular wireless service I do want, and will be getting in the
next month or two.
That cellular wireless service is available in CA as well with Verizon.
