it depends on where you are going. i have been very fortunate in my
travels in that i have been able to find a hotspot or two no matter
where i go (even outside of the U.S.). most airports, a few hotels, and
cafe's have wireless access. although as you allude to (t-mobile) some
do charge for that access.
