i personally use gringotts:

it is a gui tool that allows you to encrypt text files. you could use
gpg for the same end, but i find this tool to be a little bit eaiser to
just write/append to the same file in a gui and then just save it and
have it be encrypted. you can then carry that same file around with you
where ever you go.
