[NBLUG/talk] New user, alpha question?

Hi there,
I'm still fairly new to Linux- I've got a nice dual processor box at 
home that I use for a web server, but I am learning more and more 
everyday... I've just got a question on Alpha machines.  I've got Red 
Hat 7.3, and according to their site it should work- now I've been 
looking at some on e-bay, and it looks like I could get something to 
practice on for under $100.  Is there anything I should look for on 
these machines?  Anyone with any experiance on an Alpha?
