And "nslookup www.sonic.net" (in the same environment)
returns an instant A-record of 209.204.190.64 ?   Wierd.

But offhand, I can't see anything else it CAN be besides
DNS-foo, with those two commands returning such different
results...

  Oh, and BTW -- try taking "amanda" off the localhost
  line in /etc/host & stop/start sendmail; see how those
  delivery errors go.
