Yes, it has a 1 year warranty, hopefully Maxtor will replace it with one
that lasts longer. The new Seagate comes with a 5 year warranty.

The only Seagate drives I have ever seen go bad are ancient ST225 drives -
20 megabytes, 5.25 inch. But I have replaced many Maxtors and even more
Western Digitals - never was attracted to IBM drives so don't have
first-hand experience.
