[NBLUG/talk] RH updating

The recent thread here reminded me of a question that's been in my mind a
while...

Some time back I remember Red Hat announcing that you had to be a paying
Red Hat member to get security updates to the OS. I was, and still am,
confused whether that would basically shut you out from any updates, or
just shut you out from using their automatic update software.

I'm not using Red Hat, so it doesn't really affect me that much, but it
really turned me off to Red Hat. Maybe if I understand it better I won't
dislike them as much anymore. :-)
