Since my problem is that I occassionally hit the key combination
shift+backspace, I needed to disable that particular combination.

I did some googling and found 2 suggestions.  The first was to go to
the SuSE Control Centre and edit the keyboard shortcuts.

Unfortunately, 'shift+backspace' or 'Kill X' (or somesuch) wasn't listed.

The second suggestion was to edit /etc/X11/XF86Config directly, adding
the following line in the "ServerFlags" section:

Option        "DontZap"       "Yes"

That solved the problem for me.  The only apparant drawback is that I
won't be able shut X off from the keyboard, but I figure that's ok,
since I've never done that in the few years I've been using linux (at
least not on purpose!).
