[NBLUG/talk] Lost 3rd button on mouse

Just lost the "middle" button on my mouse.  Have been using for cut and paste 
for as long as I can remember as well as other apps that recognize.

Can't see the problem.  Does anyone have ideas or pointers to diagnostic to 
check?
Hardware or software?

Here's my setup:

RH 7.3
cat /etc/sysconfig/mouse
MOUSETYPE="ps/2"
XMOUSETYPE'="PS/2"
XEMU3=no
DEVICE=/dev/mouse
