Sorry, I'm late to this thread so missed the type of card you have.  If 
it's a prism (like mine for a netgear wg511), you can get the firmware 
file here:
http://prism54.org/~mcgrof/firmware/

Make sure it is renamed correctly (isl3890) and cp'd 
to /usr/lib/hotplug/firmware

Either reboot, or I think restarting hotplug will load the firmware and 
driver correctly, and then bob's your uncle :-).
