[NBLUG/talk] Firewall on a stick (diskette)

I have been working on a firewall problem when a freind recommended I 
set up a spare box w/linux to test. So, I searched and found some. 
However, I didn't see a lot of discussion about them.

Most of you have probably done this before, or at least wanted to try. 
So, what can you recommend? What have you tried (recently)? What has 
last the test of time (past)?
