Yeah, I ran something like this:

echo "bla bla bla" | cronolog ./%Y/test.log

as 'nobody' in the access log base dir and it worked fine. Still not 
sure what's up. I'll bang on Google some more, or just wait for my 
stupid mistake to present itself.
