Ok, unfortunately I was wrong, issue is still not quit
resolved.
So apparently someone made a patch for the 2.6.x
kernels that will run my ITE controller but that
leaves me in a bit of a chicken and egg pickle: I
can't modify the kernel until I get into linux, and I
can't get into linux until I modify the kernel.
The patch is here:
http://kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/people/akpm/patches/2.6/2.6.9-rc2/2.6.9-rc2-mm1/broken-out/add-support-for-it8212-ide-controllers.patch
I was hoping someone might have a suggestion how I
might boot with that already in place so I could
install the operating system and then have the
operating system continue to use that even after
restart (it would suck to get it all installed only to
realize I couldn't boot next time because it didn't
recognize my controller all over again!)
Any ideas?
Thank you,
Stephen
