[NBLUG/talk] 40 person yearbook roster photo catalog album; Is OpenOffice the answer?

Nat and others,

I have been reading and experimenting with Ruby on Rails.

With Ruby on Rails, one can make an online catalog. I am able to have
a photo (product for a product catalog or portrait for a yearbook)
which is connected to a sqlite3 database. I was wondering if there is
a way to print the Ruby on Rails catalog to pdf, which would then be
suitable to take to Kinkos or someplace else for printing and binding.

In general is there a way to print a webpage to pdf so that the pdf
looks like a document rather than a webpage.? With Mac OS X, one can
print with Safari and other web browsers to pdf but there are
timestamps and URLs in the header and footer.

What was your idea? I have also been reading about css2 which has
some pagination features.

Using php, mysql, and css, can one write directly to a file or is it
only possible to make a web page, and then the web page needs to be
converted to a file?

Can you point me to some sample code?

Thanks.
