[NBLUG/talk] Bug in IMAP handling of current versions of KMail

I just stumbled across and reported a bug in how KMail 1.9.1 (which ships with
KDE 3.5.1, the latest version) behaves when checking an IMAP account for new
mail. It doesn't seem to cause any data loss, but it does make it much much
slower when checking mail.

Thus far, the problem doesn't seem to affect disconnected* IMAP accounts, but
since I'm running KMail on the actual mail server, I don't want to use
disconnected IMAP.

* Disconnected IMAP accounts are just like any other IMAP account, except that
both the client and the server store their own copies of the mailboxes. When
you check your mail on a disconnected IMAP account, you're essentially
synchronizing the two sets of mailboxes. Disconnected IMAP would be
inappropriate for a mail client running on the mail server because I would
end up storing two copies of every message on the same computer (and in such
a way that the resulting redundancy would NOT serve to protect the data).
