Is there any reason to think a fresher Knoppix would have better luck?  
I'm downloading Knoppix 5.1.1 to a work machine and will burn it later 
today.

FWIW, there isn't much to google about this model from Compaq.  My guess 
is that it's a brand new one that has just come out in time for the 
Vista roll out.  There's a FedEx sticker on the box, so I'm guessing 
that this model wasn't available before Tuesday (V-day).
