OK, we've all been in the situation where some package refuses to
install because it says your installed version of something needs to be
a newer version.
We all know that sometimes it's almost impossible to upgrade those other
somethings.
If I really don't care and want to force some packages to install and
see if they work well enough to use my printer, what do I do? The system
is Kubuntu Dapper. Here's the output from apt-get:
bob at fs3:~$ sudo apt-get install libcnbj-2.4 bjfilter-2.4 pstocanonbj

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
bjfilter-2.4: Depends: libc6 (>= 2.4-1) but 2.3.6-0ubuntu20 is to be
installed
pstocanonbj: Depends: libc6 (>= 2.4-1) but 2.3.6-0ubuntu20 is to be
installed
Depends: libcupsys2 (>= 1.2.3) but 1.2.2-0ubuntu0.6.06
is to be installed
