I have updated the package lists. These printer filters are from "some
guys repository" for his Ubuntu Edgy machine.
I am very reluctant to do an upgrade, since there's a possibility I can
screw up the system in a way that affects something critical and need to
reinstall to fix it. But I'm just basing that on the experience of
others on this list as they have reported.
As it is, if I can force the printer filters to install, the worst that
can happen is I won't be able to install this printer. I've recently
decided that if there isn't a quick fix to a linux issue I will not
attempt anything further, it's a moving target and winning a long-fought
battle with some issue doesn't get me any further in linux's war for the
desktop. Or something like that :) Maybe since I have two jobs I just
don't have the time and I just want to poke it with a stick.
Cheerful regards,
Bob
