[NBLUG/talk] server failover - non-cluster

For some time I've been trying to find the best method to doing
automatic failover without resorting to a round-robin setup for two
web/e-mail servers I have. One will be updating itself from the
primary, and only the primary will be used regularly.

The two servers are at different locations and are on separate
networks, with one being on a slower connection. If any of you have
suggestions on how to accomplish this, or if what I'm trying to do is
impossible/impractical, I would appreciate it.

Links to articles or howtos would be very much appreciated.

Both are running Debian Etch on vmware-server, with each one as a
guest OS. I maintain my own name servers on each.
